Comment concerning Republican Congressmen who use religion to dispell science
+Marcus H
In my commentary, I tried not to attack specific people... with the exception of the Congressman. This is a large planet, and from century to century, who really knows what in the heck has gone on from land mass to land mass... except for the scientist who study such stuff. Unfortunately, there is a rather large population of Americans who absolutely take the bible as word! Period! And, even in 2013, there are CONGRESSMEN who publicly state that they do not believe in evolution. And that is just plain crazy, especially when you take into affect that they have graduated from a high school, and most of them have gained their higher education from high level universities.
What in the heck did these people do when they were in university? Did they live, day by day, rejecting all the science and logic taught in the university they attended? Crazy!
I was raised in the Pentecostal church. My mom is still full on Pentecostal to this day. I always rejected the racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, bigoted, hateful, repressive, inclusive back woods dogma taught in Pentecostalism -- even today, still as strong as it was in 1969, when my mom first decided to join the cult!
My decidedly anti-religious stances were formed in the trenches of the religious hatred taught in Pentecostal churches my mom dragged me to from North Carolina to Germany to Texas back to North Carolina! And when I graduated High School in 1977 in Killeen, Texas… I escaped the religions madness, never to return!
I love my mom… not the religion so much.
And so, ignorance born of religious dogmatic brainwashing drives me crazy!
Religion is a bloody two sided sword. One side has caused the death of billions of humans over time -- religious wars, religious persecution, religious genocide… I don’t think I need to go on.
The other side does help people in need… no doubt. But does the blood spilt to this day balance out the good religious causes deliver? I don’t know about that shit! One religious death, thousands of years ago, was one death too many, I say!
One night, maybe two years ago, I was watching Real Time with Bill Maher. There were three guests on that night. Rep. Jack Kingston (R. Georgia) was a guest, as well as D.L. Hugley. Jack Kingston is a notoriously anti-science advocate. And he stated… well look at the above video. These Republicans always backtrack when confronted, so watch him be sleazy.
Also, I lost most of my respect for D.L. Hugley when D.L. stated that he did not believe in evolution, too. That segment is not on this clip… but if you want to hear him state that fact, I’m sure it is on the internet.
So, religion and ignorance! It drives me crazy! And NOBODY will change my mind about the scam called religion. I am not an Atheist! This universe is too big to totally dismiss what could be. But, even though I am a horror writer who scares himself sometimes with his own tales of monsters and things and creatures… I do not believe in ghosts! But, I will not dismiss the fact that they could exist! And if I believe that a ghost might exist… I must believe a God might exist.
So far, in 54 years of life, I’ve only seen evil men using god’s name and image for death, destruction, perversion and wealth gain… with a little sprinkling for goodness on the side.
And men and women, like these twisted Republican monsters, force me farther and farther away from believing a God exists!
